Purpose (Objective):
The incumbent prepares sample for processing and maintains documentation of process to facilitate analysis procedures.
Main activities:
Read plates and tubes, as required, to determine the number of organisms in the sampleRecord findings on worksheet for verificationWrite identification onto plates so that client and sample number can be trackedPipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performedPour the agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth processPrepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blendingCollect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified amount of time and temperaturePrepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as requiredSterilize materials needed for analysisAutoclave plates before discardingPerform food poisoning, pH and other analysis tests on sample when requested by the clientEnsure that media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequenceMaintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilitiesSet up equipment and materials needed for analysisSupport corporate quality and continuous improvement processPerform necessary housekeeping duties in a timely manner, keeping the work areas and equipment clean and sanitizedMust participate in cleaning schedule and maintain retain samples as requiredAdhere to all safety policiesResponsibility to support laboratory management in the implementation maintenance, and improvement of the management systemPerform other related tasks as neededYOUR PROFILEKnowledge:
The incumbent should have a basic knowledge of microbiology or lab science to accurately perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results.
Profile (required education/qualifications and professional background):
High School Diploma required or, Associate's degree in STEM degree preferred.
Work Environment:
The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature controlOccasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratorySafety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing processThe incumbent may use the autoclave daily to complete the analysis processContinuous lifting of analysis materials weighing up to 50 pounds are necessary to transport media materialsThe incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing positionThe incumbent should be able to detect slight variation in shades of colors.
Pay:
$19.
50/hr, Overtime paid at time and a halfSchedule 5 days a week; Tuesday- SaturdayStart Time:
